Bone broth is the new Kombucha in the health-nut world and if you're not a vegan then you have no excuse to not consume this magical nectar. In short, bone broth has tons of healing properties and can be the answer to practically any health issue. The collagen and gelatin that is derived from animal bones has amazing benefits that not only make you feel better, but they also make you look and function better! I drink bone broth LITERALLY every day... doctor's orders.

Check out 5 amazing benefits of bone broth. You can also find the recipe I use and a couple of my favorite store bought brands at the bottom.

1. Anti Aging

Bone broth contains amino acids, including proline, which are necessary for collagen production. Proline is an amino acid that helps your body break down proteins to improve skin elasticity and gives you that smooth appearance that we all want. Collagen helps to smooth, firm, and tone your skin. It's also been found to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

If you are looking for a collagen product, I'm obsessed with this Great Lakes collagen powder. Vital Proteins has an amazing product as well!

2. Heals Your Gut & Improves Digestion

The gelatin and collagen in bone broth help to repair the GI tract and gut lining as a whole. Because bone broth is easily digested, your body is able to absorb all of the amino acids.

3. Protects & Strengthens Your Joints

As we get older, we start to loose cartilage in our joints. Bone broth is one of the best sources of collagen which is used by our bodies to restore cartilage. The gelatin in bone broth acts as a cushion between our bones to protect them and help them glide against one another without friction, which causes decay. It also gives us the building blocks to maintain strong bones

4. Boosts Your Immune System

Did you know that 70% of your immune system's cells are located in the gut? That means that an unhealthy gut will cause a poor immune system, allergies, and inflammation throughout your body. As I mentioned before, the collagen and gelatin in bone broth seals the gut lining which helps reduce inflammation in the body.

5. Improves Your Energy Levels & Metabolism

Bone broth contains another amino acid called glutamine, which helps us maintain energy by sending nutrients to our cells and is extremely important for a healthy metabolism.

I like to make my own bone broth when I am feeling ambitious! The recipe is pretty simple. I follow this one but google is your best friend when it comes to recipes so you really can't go wrong.

If you are lazy, like me 95% of the time, I am a HUGE fan of EPIC Bone Broth and Kettle & Fire Bone Broth.
